  • Using oral history interviews with civilians and veterans, Small Town America in World War II examines how the war affected Wrightsville. Did the war bring prosperity? What effects did it have on women? How did wartime affect the returning veterans? In short, did World War II transform Wrightsville and its citizens or was it the same town after the war?

  • About the Author: Born in Wrightsville, PA, Ronald E. Marcello earned his Ph.D. at Duke University. He is currently professor emeritus of history at the University of North Texas, having taught there for thirty-seven years. During that time, he was also director of the Oral History Program, where he conducted approximately 1200 interviews with WWII veterans. He is co-author/editor of several other books.
